September is REALTOR® Safety Month!

Join the GKAR Professional Development Committee's #SafetySelfie25 Selfie Challenge and show us how you stay safe on the job. Post your safety selfie on Facebook or Instagram, use the hashtag #SafetySelfie25 to be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card!

How to Participate

Post a selfie or a short video demonstrating REALTOR® Safety practices in real life - as you go about your day.*

We can't wait to see what you create! Here are some ideas to get you started:

On the Go

• Using a safety app before a showing (e.g., checking in on Forewarn or sending
  a check-in on Life360)
• At a showing with your personal alarm visible on your keychain, wrist, or bag.
• In a well-lit area with the caption, “Daylight = Safer Showings!"
  

Buddy System

• Meeting up with a safety buddy before or after a showing
• A text screenshot (blurred for privacy) showing a check-in text like: “Heading to Main
  Street property now—will check in after!”

Prepared and Protected

• In car with first aid kit, flashlight, or pepper spray visible (no weapons, of
  course)
• Wearing running shoes or non-slip footwear: “Safe and stylish—ready to walk any
  property with confidence.”

Smart Planning

• Picture with an open house sign and checklist: “Open House safety starts with
  smart setup!”
• Behind-the-scenes shot of setting up an emergency exit strategy at a new listing

Learning & Training

• Attending a self-defense or safety workshop
• Zoom screenshot from a virtual safety training, holding a “Realtor Safety Month” flyer or branded resource

*Entries must be made in Facebook and/or Instagram and contain the #SafetySelfie25, so the Committee can locate your post. Only posts made during the month of September 2025 will qualify for the drawing. You post must be public (not on a private page or in a private group) to qualify. A winner will be drawn and announced the week of October 6^th, 2025.
