Kalamazoo, Michigan - April 2, 2009 - The Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® (GKAR) announced today that their weekly newsletter, Bearings, which has been printed and delivered to its entire membership for close to forty years, will soon become available in an electronic version only.
The Bearings, which provides comprehensive information to REALTORS®, real estate professionals and groups interested in gaining a competitive edge by interacting with GKAR members, is the latest addition into the Association's digital information initiative. The new e-Bearings, is expected to provide a more impactful stream of newsworthy items to its readers in an effort to save on publication costs while at the same time, helping to generate more home sales in the Greater Kalamazoo area.
"We absolutely believe in the usefulness of hard-copy newsletters, flyers and forms, but should no longer do business as usual," Frank Mortl, III, CEO of GKAR said Thursday - a day before the Bearings was to be delivered to his members for the last time. "These changes allow us to focus our resources on strengthening the content we provide our members instead of investing in paper, ink and fuel. They allow us to take a big step towards exciting new relationships with readers, information providers and advertisers."
In addition to an electronic version of their weekly newsletter, GKAR plans on converting most of their promotional flyers and real estate contract forms into electronic documents that can be accessed from the Association's website, gkar.com. While many GKAR forms have already been translated into their digital information initiative via ZipForms®, the Official Forms Software of the National Association of REALTORS®, certain hard-copy forms will still be available to members, by request.
"This will be an appealing advance in the modern delivery of critical real estate industry information that we believe to be vital to the ultimate success of our members," said Mortl. "By developing our REALTORS® to become well-versed in the art of e-information, we feel tangible benefits will be derived by the association as a whole as well as homebuyers and homesellers in the Greater Kalamazoo area. GKAR members and their clients will now have electronic information available to them in a convenient and environmentally friendly way from either a computer or handheld device."
GKAR encourages anyone interested in the purchase of a home to contact a local greater Kalamazoo REALTOR® for more information on homebuying opportunities and the advantages available to both new and trade-up buyers.
