BROKER EXCHANGE FORUM
Purpose: To provide a casual support system for Brokers to discuss management issues and to hear
speakers on various topics of interest.

COMMERCIAL COMMITTEE
Purpose: To explore services and concerns of those members engaged in commercial and industrial
real estate.

EDUCATION
Purpose: To offer a variety of educational topics and formats to our members, assisting them to meet
their educational needs.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Purpose: Coordinate state and national association fair housing partnership program and educate
members in marketing to our culturally diverse society.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS
Purpose: To encourage membership participation in legislative matters. Study local issues and their
effect on industry and GKAR members. Implement RPAC (REALTORS® Political Action
Committee) programs.

GRIEVANCE
Purpose: Acts as a screening/investigative body for the Professional Standards Hearing Panel.
Following its review, it determines the proper course of action on any formal complaint from the public
or membership. The Committee, on its own motion, may direct action by a Hearing Panel. Committee
members must have been a REALTOR® for a minimum of three years. There are no monthly
meetings. Annual Professional Standards Training offered through the Michigan Association of
REALTORS®, as well as additional GKAR education, is mandatory to serve on this committee.

MLS/TECHNOLOGY
Purpose: To interpret, advise on, and enforce MLS/KARIN policies and rules. Responsible for the
conception, design, development, implementation, re-evaluation, and improvement of computer
applications, which are of benefit to the Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® and its
members, in cooperation with the Southwestern Michigan Regional Information Center (SWMRIC).

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Purpose: To provide a pool of panel members to hear matters of alleged Code of Ethics violations by
GKAR Members and disputes over commissions. Committee members must have been a REALTOR®
for a minimum of five years. Annual Professional Standards Training offered through the Michigan
Association of REALTORS®, as well as additional GKAR education is mandatory to serve on this
committee.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS/SPECIAL EVENTS
Purpose: Promote positive internal relations within the GKAR membership including special events,
in addition to continuing to increase GKAR's involvement in the community.

RISK MANAGEMENT
Purpose: Review and revise standard forms, agreements and contracts.
