FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kalamazoo Home Sales in December Mark Recovery
Kalamazoo, Michigan - January 11, 2012 - The Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® (GKAR) announced their response today to the Monthly Cumulative Sales Report for November. The data displays encouraging housing news for Kalamazoo area home buyers and home sellers alike.
"Existing-home sales rose again in December in the Kalamazoo Area marking the sixth consective month where the sales have closed higher than the previous year. According to our records, the last period this occurred was January through June of 2004. With the rise in activity, it suggests a stabilizing and healthy housing market" said Robin Pompey, Chief Executive Officer of GKAR. "Local inventory has been declining at a steady pace for the past six consective months." The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), as the nation's leading advocate for homeownership and housing issues, has been aggressively pursuing more loan modifications to help reenergize the housing market. To prevent further foreclosure inventory increases, NAR is urging lenders to take steps to modify loans and keep struggling families in their homes.
