Days of Service for Veterans

Our goal

To say thank you to veterans in our community, whether returning home with special requirements, or simply in need of home maintenance.

How it Works

  1. Complete the Nomination/Request Form Online. We are no longer accepting nominations for 2017.

  2. GKAR will review requests as they are received
  3. The veteran/point-of-contact will be notified via phone or letter whether their project is selected.
  4. GKAR will coordinate volunteers to complete the project as soon as possible.
  5. Join us for a Fellowship Thank You Lunch on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at the VFW on Portage St.

If you are a veteran or know a veteran, who owns a home in the counties of Allegan, Barry, Branch, Cass,       Calhoun, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, or Van Buren, the Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® (GKAR) is here to say thank you by assisting with your home maintenance needs. We appreciate your service to our country and care about making your house a home. GKAR will review requests as they are received and coordinate volunteers to complete the work as soon as possible. On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, we will host a Fellowship Thank You Lunch for the volunteers and veterans.

Service is based on number of nominations and available resources, to be determined by the GKAR Selection Committee. We are no longer accepting nominations for 2017.
   

Fellowship Lunch Details

  • Date: Saturday, October 21st, 2017
  • Location: VFW; 562 Portage St. in Kalamazoo (formerly the Home Bar)
  • Time: 12:00 pm
  • Contact: Angela McMillan; AngelaM@gkar.com 
  • Who Should be There: ALL volunteers, veterans, and veterans' families, regardless of when the project was completed. 
  • This is an opportunity to meet our veterans, say thank you for all they do, and share a delicious BBQ buffet. There is no cost for our volunteers, veterans, or their families.
