Based halfway between Detroit and Chicago, The Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® is a professional organization affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS®, the nation's largest professional association with 800,000 members. Our mission is symbolized by our commitment to the following tenants:
SERVICE
GKAR prides itself on being tremendously responsive to our over 1,100 REALTOR® and
 affiliated members. With a staff trained, experienced and educated in virtually every aspect of REALTOR® issues and association management, we dedicate ourselves to ensuring that the interests of our members are served and advanced through our day-to-day activities, as well as through the development and follow-through of our annual strategic plan. We work hard to respond to the needs of our members, and to enhance the vision of our association within the community. Our staff is proud to be an integral part of the success of all of the members of the Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS®.
EDUCATION
Any person willing to make the sacrifices necessary to become a REALTOR® must
 have the assurance that the organization that they join will become an indispensable partner in ensuring that they will have the best opportunity to educate themselves as to how best serve their customer. Members of GKAR have the opportunity to participate in educational offerings that will best prepare them to serve you. All members of GKAR undergo an intensive annual Continuing Education process, sanctioned by the State of Michigan, that will equip them with the tools they need, and the public expects. Our association has expended significant resources to ensure that these needs are met.
TECHNOLOGY
Anyone wishing to assist the public in buying and selling a home needs to be trained in
 the most recent technology and advances that will make this process as positive as possible. GKAR members have the opportunity to train on the latest equipment, with the most advanced instruction available. We will continue to work to ensure that, as our Mission Statement is validated by continually updating our resources to ensure member success. GKAR members participate in an Internet-based Multiple Listing Service, which means that any home that is listed with one of them, is able to be seen by anyone who can navigate the World Wide Web. This allows our members to better serve you in buying or selling a home, no matter what you need, or where you are. Our new state-of-the-art facility is an illustration of our commitment to excellence, and allows us to best meet the needs of REALTORS® throughout southwest Michigan. LEADERSHIP
The Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® has an established history as
 being one of the strongest organizations of its kind in the nation. Our Board of Directors, made up of twelve Directors, continually reviews the mission and goals of the organization, and plans accordingly. As one of seven REALTOR® associations in the Southwest Michigan Regional Information Center, L.L.C. (SWMRIC), we take an aggressive position in making sure that the entire region benefits from the experience of our membership, and work collaboratively to address issues pertinent to issues facing the industry.
We also work tirelessly to represent REALTOR® and homeowner issues to local, state and national units of government, and are very active in public policy at the local level.
